Conventional science says that sedimentary rocks form slowly over thousands of years. So how come we find fossilised trees standing upright in quarries? These "polystrate" fossils are excellent evidence of previous global catasrophes, where trees were entirely buried, whilst still standing.

"The immense size of many beds containing well preserved polystrate fossils, also points to rapid catastrophic deposition on a huge scale which does not support millions of years of sedimentary processes."

No date is offered for the fossil, although the article suggests it was from between 3 million and 17 million years ago.

While the fossil is evidence for a once warmer South Pole, the reason for the warmth is unknown:

"We have to look at the models more closely: Obviously it wasn't greenhouse gases warming Antarctica 15 million years ago," he said. "Some other variables, other than human variables, caused [it]."

Maybe someone could whisper "pole shift" in their ear.

"...With some repositioning of their genetic material, the two species took on such a similarity they were able to interbreed -- although with less than 100 percent success. The observations suggest chromosomal rearrangement, or translocation, might play an important role in the evolution of new species, geneticists said. "

So.... another piece of evidence. It won't be long before scientists work out that some of that "junk DNA" is really evolutionary options. And when something triggers it (radiation?), our bodies choose to evolve into a new species. Pre-planned evolution, happening all of a sudden, by choice.

Over in Chernobyl, some worms have started to have sex with each other, whereas they normally reproduce asexually:

Sexual reproduction allows natural selection to promote genes that offer better protection from radiation damage, and "the resistance of populations as a whole will be increased", he suggests."

Radiation triggers evolutionary re-action!

There was a great episode of NOVA about a new "alien" invader of our seas. Amazingly, a toxic aquarium plant is accidentally released into the Mediterranean, overwhelming marine life and threatening to spread worldwide.

It has always been accepted that lower doses of radiation cause lower damage. But no-one considered that our bodies might give less priority to the lesser damage:

"However, the researchers noted that the damage from low radiation levels lingered days to weeks longer than damage induced by more powerful levels. They observed that when the cell cultures multiplied, the numbers of double-strand breaks decreased.

This might be because instead of repairing the damage, the body simply gets rid of these damaged cells with induced cell death, the duo suggested. In high doses of radiation, more cells b damaged - too many to kill off - so the body repairs the damage instead."

So, how might our bodies react to massive doses of cosmic radiation. Scientists who merely extrapolate data from standard or large doses might be ignoring the possibility that our bodies react intelligently.

OK, it's starting to sound silly, but the initial scenario is a very real possibility. I can't wait to see how the show the effects of cosmic radiation and global turmoil & terror.

Repeat after me: we've only observed a fraction of the weird events involving stars and galaxies - nothing can be ruled out.

"The outburst of V838 Mon was somewhat similar to that of a nova, a more common stellar outburst. A typical nova is a normal star that dumps hydrogen onto a compact white-dwarf companion star. The hydrogen piles up until it spontaneously explodes by nuclear fusion — like a titanic hydrogen bomb. This exposes a searing stellar core, which has a temperature of hundreds of thousands of degrees Fahrenheit.

By contrast, however, V838 Mon did not expel its outer layers. Instead, it grew enormously in size, with its surface temperature dropping to temperatures not much hotter than a light bulb. This behavior of ballooning to an immense size, but not losing its outer layers, is very unusual and completely unlike an ordinary nova explosion.

All power to anyone who promotes peace and environmental care. However, I have yet to read anywhere how alignment with the galactic centre (which doesn't happen precisely in 2012, and is all just relative anyway) can create vibrations that transform humans to a higher level.

However, a quick glance at his site shows that he is a much more genuine chap than most of the New Agers claiming to be, and cashing in on being, Mayan elders.

"Radiation on Mars is so intense that it could endanger astronauts sent to explore the Red Planet, and it's unlikely that any extraterrestrial life would survive there, NASA scientists said."

Well, that's an exaggeration, they're only saying that it exceeds their safety limits. Sure, more astronauts will get cancer etc, but the level is okay for a colony or humans/plants/animals to survive if they have everything else they need.

"The radiation would expose astronauts in orbit to an effective dose 2.5 times greater than that received by humans in low Earth orbit aboard the international space station."

It does highlight the fact that we are lucky not to be bombarded by space radiation, and we should be prepared for any increase of radiation hitting Earth, or decrease in the magnetic shield or atmosphere that protect us.

Pyramids around the globe = coincidence?

Now you can add mummies to the argument. No longer just found in Egypt and the Americas, they were once fashionable in the UK as well:
