Yes, worth reading. I had the opportunity to have a look at it prior to it being published. Patrick is only other person I have come across who is serious about surviving a cataclysm in 2012 - ie not a new-ager who has a few months worth of canned food in the cellar.

This is a great book to get more information on 2012. It is written by Jose Arguelles. I am an amateur scholar in search of enlightenment and knowledge. I am very intrigued by the Maya and Egyptian history and way of thinking. Carlos Castaneda is another great book that investigates the Yaqui Indian way of knowledge who are decendants of the Maya. The Mayan Factor is a must read.

According to Indian mythology and Astrology. the Grand dissolution of the world (Mahapralaya) takes place every 4,32,000 years. The total period between Grand dissolutions is divided into four periods: namely Satya (Golden), Treta (Silver), Bronze (Dwapar) and Kali (Iron or Dark) Yugas. The proportion of time period being 4:3:2:1
The next dissoloution is still due way too long. It is said that the polar changes will take place in a fashion that North Pole will come to where Spain is now ; and south pole would be where New Zealand is now. This would happen gradually and on that final day the earth's speed of rotation around its axis would be zero; before it starts picking up rotational speed once again. ...And further it may well start rotating in a direction opposite to that of present.
Hence to reckon the time of this happening, the decceleration in earth's rotational speed need to be monitored, and calculation made accordingly.

Im sorry but the earth will not stop spinning due to the fact that it is impossible. But they might be refering to the core of the earth which powers the magnetic field. The jump between poles never stops. And the world will not end in 2012. This is just like Y2K. We are getting worried about nothing that wont happen till about 45000 AD. Lets fix the problems in our world today, and also perfect cold fusion, so that we wont need any fission power plants anymore.

Maybe we should shut them down ourselfs?

i never read any books on any of this, never even knew a people called the mayans existed, yet i was approached by a man and a woman and told i was the earths savior from something comming through a dark rift in 2012, at the mayan ballcourt, i have a hard time beleiving in any of it, but with what i am seeing everywhere, i cant deny that it is happening and therefore, something is comming to destroy us all, atlantis was a target of this thing, and so were all the orinian decendants, you dont have to beleive, you just have to make sure that you take care of your families and friends, if something does happen then it will be very bad and you will wish that you were dead, if nothing happens you will never know the hero that saved your life, never know what truly happened, wont know the names of the people that are trying to help people become aware of the dangers that are comming

I'm new here, but years ago, I heard something that really got to me. I'd like to find out more information about this.

The switching of the poles has gone on many times in the past. The stories surrounding the last event are recorded as "Noah" and "Adam and Eve" as the time before that. Mother Earth is a living being and she does not live forever. She gets old and passes just as we do and when she does she re-incarnates with a new body. The switching of the poles is just the manifestation of this event. All life as we know it does NOT perish, although most living things do die. Those that survive do so with what they have in their pockets and from there civilizations start anew. There will be pockets of civilizations that survive around the globe. The last time this occurred was roughly 7 to 9 thousand years ago. The recording of this time will be remembered as Atlantis is remembered from the previous time, and stories will be made to tell of Jesus just as the stories of Zeus have survived.
The aging of the earth is a natural pheonomenon that can be measured by the amount of pollution acquired in the world. The pollution produces pockets of relative balance left throughout the world and those areas become smaller and smaller as the pollution increases with advance of technology.
It is the imbalance of the world caused by this pollution that causes the cataclysm, but it is a natural thing. The cataclysm can be delayed depending on the amount of pollution man produces, but it cannot be avoided.
In a manner of speaking, man is the catalyst of the world. We are necessary to help Mother Earth evolve and to grow, but inevitably we become the "cancer" that kills the host.
But just as we re-incarnate, so will Mother Earth.
As far as I have heard the exact time of the renewal of the Earth is not specific, as that time depends on the amount of imbalance throughout the world. During the renewal all the pollution is buried deep within her and the world is like the time of "Adam and Eve." After many centuries fossil fuels are once again discovered and the pollution starts again.
This is what I've heard.
